If there were always pretty yellow flowers here, summer wouldn't be nearly as magical. I spend the winter missing them, so happy to know they'll return.

My goal for this school year: learn a lot and say NOTHING hurtful. Patience. Grace. Kindness. Every day.

Watching him play old macdonald for the first time: definitely the highlight of my day!

Sometimes you cannot overcome "tired". The only thing is to give in, call it a day, and look forward to tomorrow.

We haven't had any real snow yet, this is from last year. I say if it has to be so cold outside, at least it could be pretty. Bring on the snow!!

With each passing year I am more comfortable in this skin. Content with the life I lead. Thankful to a God who loves me so.

Their first victory of the season makes for a happy Saturday!!

Two baby boys were born this week, to families that we know and love.

It made me think about our baby boy, who will turn eight this spring. He has completed this family in so many unimaginable ways. I'm so happy for their families, who now have their baby boys to do just the same.

Watching the temp gauge in your car drop and drop on the way to work can be a bit disheartening. Pretty sure that's what makes a Nebraskan so tough.

Good ol' Mollie is twelve years old. She still jogs around like a puppy and sniffs for food like she's never full...how lucky we've been to know her almost her whole life and nearly our entire marriage.

There are days, like yesterday, like today, that feel quite repetitive. Up at 6, off to school around 7:30, back home around 4. Dinner. Bedtime...

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

We head to Arizona in March. Trips to different places give me something to look forward to, which I need as I also find joy in each day...

A warm sunny day in January: it's a rare gift that absolutely requires a restful sit to soak up a little vitamin D!

So great to spend a happy hour (and a 1/2) with friends at the end of this long, long week.

He joined his sister for piano lessons today. His very first lesson. They'll go in together every week, building childhood memories together.

Now ages ten and seven, sometimes I get a little nostalgic about those two baby faces.

We have had ten smiling years of parenthood...

This long, cold January day had me dreaming of other things. I try hard to live in the moment, but today I wished that the moment included a long walk on a sunny day!

Staying in The Word, every day.
(this particular note is from a different day because today I spent in gyms watching youth basketball...but you know what I mean)

Sometimes I just HAVE to sit. Put the feet up. Read a magazine. Watch t.v. Something involving very little output.

The festive glow of the holiday season fades quickly for me. January and February are always my least favorite months.

My goal is to stay positive and light, even on these dark winter days.

Pausing regularly scheduled programming for an annual exam. It's one if those things that always makes me feel like maybe I really am an adult. That, and pulling the trash to the curb on Wednesdays. Oil changes. Mortgage payments.

It's not all wine and roses, is it?

We started a new book for our small group at church.

I love the hope contained in an unread book.

I was thinking today about my good fortune. I spend my days in a building meant entirely for learning. I get to do my small part, surrounded with an abundance of materials to help me help them learn.

Lucky me.

End of day + Mug of hot tea = Exhale.

My word for 2014 is STRONGER.

Step one: I took these old friends for a stroll on the treadmill today.
Step two: less words + more action.

Wrapping up the season...
The memories in each little ornament hold more joy than could ever be put into words.

Snowing outside.
Cozy inside.
The tree comes down today.
But first, a little football. [Go Huskers]
