Our first winter storm, our first snow day. On the last day of school before break.

My kindergartner is beyond bummed, which is the total opposite emotion one should feel on a snow day. I'm bummed too. For B, there will be no holiday sing along (parents come! to sing along!), no corduroy Christmas jumper, no snowsuit on the playground. For me, it's the cards and thank yous and other holiday sentiments I planned to hand out today. Not to mention wrapping up first semester with exams and grades and such. It's a bit of a bummer to start holiday break knowing that will be waiting for me on January 5th.

But I'll get over it!

Now we're on break! For two full weeks plus one bonus day.

There are presents to wrap, cards to address and send out, hot cocoa to sip, children to snuggle. I've been one distracted mama lately and am glad for some time to regroup. To get back to center.

"Sit to us mommy," suggests my little man. And that's what I'm just about to do.

Yep...

I was supposed to take finals today, but the ice has prevented it. Wasn't the sound on the windows last night rather interesting? And isn't it gorgeous out today? :)

We are in the midst of quite a storm too, but school was not canceled. Papoosie Girl warned me about trying to pick her up early...we'll see. Enjoy your time off even if it sounds pretty busy!

I wanted a snow day just so I didn't have to drive into work! But then I realized I had saved my teacher's gifts for today... they'll be getting them in 2009 instead!

Snow Days -- Nature's way of saying "Merry Christmas! Nothing wrong with being a couch potato!" Alas I've got a bug exploration planned for today with the boys. Because nothing makes me feel festive like researching scorpions when it's -25 outside.

Ooooh, a snow day! It's always good, even if inconveniently timed! I know what you mean about needing the time to regroup. Enjoy the snuggles!

Hope you were able to enjoy the snow day...and don't think too much about the work waiting for you when you get back in two weeks. I'm enjoying two weeks off as well - and hope to fit in a trip up to Omaha as well if the weather cooperates!

Hey Mama, watch out for the windchill today and Sunday. It's supposed to be pretty nasty. :(

I hope your snow day was fun! :)
