On the Phone

Have you ever talked mean to the sweet computer-voice lady at the mortgage company?

Maybe called her a mean name?

Then pressed zero and zero and zero, desperately trying to talk to a REAL person?

Yeah. Me too.

Probably best not to handle these things in a feverish flu haze.

Maybe I'll write her a nice apology note while I wait to talk to that REAL person!

I've never done that but I've sure thought about it. I am ashamed to say I've been sassy with real people before.... kinda sad aren't I?

I got sassy with a salesperson the other day.
I felt very rewarded.

Now that might be kind of sad . . .

I do this a lot when I'm cranky. I also talk "mean" to inanimate objects a lot...!

I actually said "F*** YOU" to the automated voice that called me to tell me that I might have won a cruise, and to press 1 now to enter my credit card number.

Oh, poor you. Do you have THE flu?

Sometimes when I'm answering prompts (ie, repeat your 11 digit personal account number) I use a fake accent to see if I can trip up the computer software. But only when the kids aren't around -- otherwise I might have to explain why I'm talking like Aboo from The Simpsons.

It nearly always works to hit zero, # or * repeatedly until someone connects. The worst is when you have entered three thousand numbers and the first thing the human asks is for you to repeat the same numbers.

No apology needed I would say and hope you are on the mend.

Ha ha! I only ever cursed at the automated voice once and I think they deserved it.

Oh, I just press zero over and over again like a maniac, as if the computer will be somehow able to pick up on my irritation and treat me better! Never works ...
