A Pan

There are few objects that I am emotionally attached to. That being said, there are a few things in my home that I am REALLY attached to! I just broke this pan. This perfect, 8 X 8, glass baking pan. My mom gave it to me at some point in my early apartment days and I've used almost daily since. Isn't it pretty? Mom could probably even tell me when SHE got it.

Today while I was doing dishes, the skillet it was sitting in slid down in the sink a little, only a few inches, and it split right down the middle. It was obviously this pan's time to go, it barely tapped the inside of the skillet and was in two pieces.

I panicked. Really. I know it's just a pan. But it's a beloved pan.

To calm myself, I went online. Almost instantly. To try and order a replacement. I decided to order a pan in the brand I've been wanting to try for a while now. Le Creuset. I ordered a 9" one and am hoping the extra 17 square inches won't be a problem. What sold me was the extra 5" pan that comes with it. Bonus! And the lime green color, I've been on a green kick lately.

It will never truly replace my wonderful 8 X 8, but hopefully my life will go on.

I completely understand! I get to be the same way about some things...even when I can rationally tell myself that it is not a big, horrible problem to change. We can be such funny things, huh?

I hope the lime green one is great - it sure is cute!

I can totally relate! That brand is awesome, those pretty much last a lifetime. It is funny, some of my early Corelle and Pyrex are just starting to shatter 12 years later, I guess it is time.

I am sure you will learn to love your new green set!

At least pans stick around longer that the perfect shade of lipstick that they discontinue after less than 2 years.

I'm still in mourning over a JANE lipstick from high school and the Biore facial scrub from college.

I sympathize with your sadness over the breakage of your fave pan. Can you believe my mother-in-law gave me one of her mother's favorite glass pans. She used it "all the time" and took it to "church dinners and carry in suppers". I don't have any glass pans that don't have a chip or a knick in them. How do people keep their faves in tact?!

My MIL is totally like that about some of her Tupperware. I always feel terrible if it gets any sort of mark on it while in my care! Heaven forbid if I actually broke it- I can't imagine the wrath!
