Right Now, The Kids Have The Floor

She's an amazing little thinker.

Do you know how much rice I've eaten in my life?

We had it for dinner the other night, a side dish. I mentioned rice-a-roni, we were eating the chicken flavored variety.

Rice-a-roni? She asked, sounding baffled.

Yes, that's what it's called. I told her.

Wow, she told me. It's like mac-a-roni.

Do you know, I've never - ever - made that connection? Do you know how many boxes of the stuff I've eaten, how many years the San Francisco treat jingle was stuck in my head?

She has me turn my head every day...and look at the world from her angle.

"Hey. My name's Sarina. I came all the way from Africa. I was a cowgirl there and helped my dad weather in the horses." (What the?)

Playing Barbies is so much fun! Especially when Sarina joins the party.

Buzz and Woody are always good for a laugh. Ken is usually just sleeping it off.

Good times, I tell you.

A little time away is all it takes to see how good it is here. How much fun we can have on the floor, playing dolls together. A little time away, and I've got my perspective back. Thank goodness for that!

that looks like entirely too much fun.

When I try to join in Barbies I am told I don't do it right!

My eldest has a 12 year old cousin who watches a lot of the teen shows on Family Channel. When we are at her house my girls will sometimes watch Hannah Montana with her and another show called the Suite Life with Zach & Cody (don't quote me on the exact name)...anyhoo I was telling my eldest I wasn't sure if this was a show for her, etc. etc. So she tells me how similar it is to her Eloise books and if the story idea is the same it must be ok for her.

Um. Right you are 7!

Ohhh - how fun! Brady thinks Woody and Buzz are much more appealing than Ken too - so your little guy has good taste :)

I love the way your gal thinks - isn't it so refreshing to look at things from their perspectives sometimes???

I think Brett was about 22 and we had some friends here with a 5 year old. She went down the basement to play with Barbies because her mom said that was ok. After about 5 minutes I got up and said, "I'm going to go check on Heather." Brett jumped up and said, "I'll go Mom." He stayed down there. After the company left. I told Brett thank you for staying downstairs with Heather. Hesaid, "I still like to play with Barbies"

I heard an amazing story on NPR last week about how rice-a-roni was created--it was truly amazing.

I love watching my own little girl blossom!

That ricearoni/macaroni thing was a revelation to me, too. Gosh.

Playing Barbies with the kids is always kind of funny: as a child, the only Barbie game I played was variants of Barbie Bordello. My kids are so WHOLESOME!

Remember all the good times WE had with Barbies?!?! And how funny is it that our Kens usually "slept it off" too? LOL!!! Mama's story of Brett made me smile too. I remember when Addison was maybe 1 and he sat in a chair at Aunt J's and played with her the entire get together. Those are some of the sweetest pictures I have of her! I love our Brett!!! And just think.... he's soon to be the best daddy on the planet!!!! :D
