Slobs Anonymous.
Hi, my name is Melanie.
I am a slob.
Today is one of those days. You know the ones. I'm wiping splatters off walls, digging out of a mountain of laundry, washing out untensil holders and silverware trays. Picking up the random bits that cover my floors. The messes my children manage really are wonders of nature.
I'm not good at picking up as I go along. It does not bother me to sit down after a long day and watch a TV show while the toys are piled around me.
So we're having one of those days. A cleaning-in-my-pajamas day. It feels really good to be getting things put back together.
I just wish I were more of a keep-it-clean kind of mom. Instead of dig-out-after-a-blurry, tired week kind of mom.
C'est la vie.
So while I clean...
Our little guy washes utensils while the untensil holder gets clean in the dishwasher (something you should really think about doing more than once every two years, I can say that from personal experience).
Our B is happy to practice her exciting new mouse skills on an internet game she got to play at school (Sesame Street's website is loaded with games perfect for the 5-year olds set. If your 5-year old is like mine and has had very little mouse time).
All in all, a perfect Saturday at home. Warm inside, protected from the current cold snap in our area. A day to catch up.
Maybe later, a nap.

So can you come and do my house tomorrow? Thanks.
Oh - it's not looking much better. Mostly still a big mess. But my utensil holder sure looks dandy!
Mm, slobbery, nothing to be ashamed of, I flirt with order.
I often find my fits of cleaning frenzy coincide nicely with certain times of the month when I also tend to shout, "Nobody but me EVER does anything around this house!"...and my family slowly slinks out the front door in fear!
Hey! I am procrastinating on the big tidy RIGHT NOW! Oh joy, a Sunday night chore ...
Despite being anal and a constant tidy-upper, the utensil drawer is never a priority for me. Good on you for tackling that one!
Oh dear, I suppose my utensil holder is due for a run through the dishwasher if I'm to stay on the recommended schedule. 2 years, didn't I just move in this house?
man, i can relate.
I try and clean up as we go, but the week always runs away from me!
I am the picker upper and my wife is the deep cleaner. it really has proven to be a nice deal. She has a way of cleaning things that make them sparkle and smell bright and fresh and I just keep everything off the floor and the dishes and clothes clean. It never seems fair, until I see her cleaning up the toilet after a few days of the 4yr old still getting his aim down. yuck!
Mmmm...naps are good!
I will have to check out the Sesame Street website...I think mine are getting tired of Playhouse Disney.
And I tagged you for a meme if you have time...
