Happy Monday

Today is so gorgeous. The sun is shining, people are wandering outdoors. Wondering what is this? Warm weather? Oh, I think I remember what to do with this!

We are firing up the grill. We're eating things we shouldn't and some that we should. Brauts with mustard, pasta salad, fruit - delicious summer food.

At the dinner table:

"Mommy, where do hot dogs come from?"

"But where does meat come from?"

Oh..."the store".

Hmmm..."BUT MOMMY, do you know where the meat in the stores come from?"

Ugh..."what Brenna?"

"I think deers." That sounds reasonable. Correct the incorrect plural form, consider the rest just fine.

Then the hubby chimes in. "But also cows, and pigs."

"Ewww, pigs eat trash!" What?

Oh, the highly intelligent conversations we have at the dinner table. Oh my.

Hubby tried this weekend to make the connection between chicken we eat and chickens at the farm. After a few panicked looks I told him to drop it.

Meat comes from the store in all cases.

I love that carton at the top of this post! Too funny :)

Isn't it nice to have the grill going again? We did that on Sat and I'm looking forward to more nights of grilling!

Funny story. We're vegetarian, but I have to admit that the SMELL of bbq is among my very very favorite things ever. I'm hotdog co-dependent.

You probably don't know, but Canada's largest hot dog manufacturer is based right here in my city! So if you lived here, you could just point to the building in question.

Mimi - I would love to read a post on how that works - being vegetarian as a family. I am sort of skittish about meat and have often marveled at people who don't eat it. It's just default for me, it's how I was raised. You should consider writing something on that topic. One thing I definitely do not get is tofu. I've tried it so many times and just do not get how people enjoy it. It's a foreign concept to me!

Thanks for your comment on my "Reasons I blog" post! Guess what? Kayla will also be 4 in July! How neat :) When is your daughter's bday? Kayla's is the 15th.
