Pillow Talk

So I was trying to be lazy and not get photos of said pillows, but feel now that I must provide proof. These pillows, while being quite lovely, do not work. The existing pillows have a bold plaid that does not work with the more formal stripe. Because of the lighting, you really can't see the green stripe, it runs in the row of narrower ones. It's a perfect color, but the pattern and texture doesn't mesh. Shucks.

I will find something, but it's got to be something a little softer, maybe just a cream color? Hmmm...

Hey - thanks for all of the advice anyways! It's a great thought to make some pillows, but it would be #800 on the ol' to do list. I'm convinced I'll find something. Some day.

Sorry, I don't like them on your couch. But I do like them a lot! Too bold. You need a muted print or a soft solid. (Are you surprised I didn't say you need something that will POP.?) Let you kids use crayons... forget I said that...they may take it further than you'd like them to. You are now officially a hunter and gatherer. So, go forth, oh great one!

As I look again maybe you need to take the plaid ones off. Just a thot.

I definitely thought of just taking the plaid ones off, but that still leaves me five more pillows short. And the border on the couches is the same material as the pillows. I just need something that blends better. Like you said, more muted.

You're right: they don't work. But not -- as a previous poster noted -- because they are too bold, but because they are too bland. You need a richer palate in a heavier fabric (brocade, corduroy, even a denim) and with very minimal amounts of creme to give them weight and visually anchor the sofa.

Ugh. Yeah. I have strong opinions on many topics and I'm not afraid to spout off. Feel pity for my poor husband.

They're cute pillows, but yeah. THey don't work on the couch, do they? Can you bring a fabric swatch to the pillow store?

Okay, I see what you mean. I like AMD's idea about solid denim - something cottagey rather than formal.

I like the denim idea - that's what I'll try next! We've got a more casual feel here, so I don't want anything too formal.

I like the color of the little brown pillow on the love seat. But I LOVE the striped pillows. Will they work in your bedroom? Or in the family room on the oversized chair? I say in the living room, get some light brown colored or beige or whatever color it is I am trying to think of. Robbie got mine at W@lM@rt for Christmas. They aren't huge, they are that suede type material. I love them. And they weren't expensive.

yeah... the piping on the sofa keeps you limited.

Maybe a sage and white or cream stripe would do the trick - even a seersucker - or would that be too busy with the plaid? I think there's a chance it could work.

My offer stands to sew for you.
