Mid-Week Blah Blah Blahs

My hubby and his dad are doing a tile project in our entry, from the front door to the back patio door. It will be so nice, because of the high traffic area. But having my high traffic area out of commission for the past two days has left me feeling grrrrrrumpy. I stayed upstairs in the bedrooms with kids last night and just kept them out of the house completely tonight. I'm so tired, but don't feel like going to bed. Call me melancholy.

How long do you wait to turn the furnace on? How cold do you let it get in your house? Just curious. With little ones, it's different. Especially if you've got a little girl who refuses to wear any pajamas, because she will be h-o-t. So instead, she's a little popsicle in panties by morning. I've been tempted the past two nights to turn on the heat.

I can't wait for the weekend. We're going to the Applejack Festival in Nebraska City, which involves a parade and picking apples. I'm hoping that it will help brighten my mood, which has gone to a dingy shade of blue this week. It's the day, I know. But it's also such a mixture of happy-sad. Good-bye to summer.

We remembered victims of 9/11 in my classroom today. My students scarcely remember where they were that day, since they were so young. But I remember.

May we never forget.

Sadly our furnace has been tripping on since mid August. Or was that mid July? Or was it mid June? Is it possible we didn't have a summer at all...hmmm...

I'm envious of your dipping temps and of the fact that you're considering turning on the heat! I'm a cold weather person, and the heat here in the south really gets to me.

I hope you're feeling better--it's hard to fight the blahs sometimes, especially on a day like yesterday.

I put the furnace on whenever it's getting cold enough to justify it. My mother-in-law is always all, "It was 50 degrees in the house last night but I REFUSE to turn the heat on in SEPTEMBER!" (In May it's the same thing, but the house is 100 degrees.) She thinks this shows strength of character. I think it shows a failure to understand that the temperature IS what it IS, whatever the calendar says.

I'm melancholy, too. Stupid September.
I turned my furnace on for the first time this morning - my house stays pretty warm, but the nightime temperatures have been hovering near freezing and it was shiver-iffic in here when we woke up. My husband was grumbly about it, because it's only September.

Brenna - gotta love her.
We finally turned the air off yesterday and opened up the windows after dinner. My allergies, of course, kicked in a bit, but I love having the windows opened - even if just for a bit. Our house hasn't been chilly enough for the furnace yet. I hate to think about turning it on and getting the dry skin, etc.

I agree with the others...put the furnace/AC on when needed, no matter the month!

It was a sad day yesterday. I will certainly never forget.

I love the house chilled, I can't lie. The windows have been open all week. However, my kiddos LOVE blanket sleepers, so there is a slight difference there. My biggest problem is that I can't hardly stand that smell when you first turn on the furnace. I know it only lasts a minute, but still. I hate it.

9/11. Remember my panicked call to you?!?! It makes me shaky to even think about it. Thank God that, even though we were impacted by it, the impact was all from a distance. We won't ever forget. The Lord won't let us!

we don't have to turn the heat on until late Oct, sometimes even Nov. I guess we turn it on when it starts getting cool enough for long sleeve shirts LOL

Have fun at the apple festival!
