Boob Tube

After getting the kids to be tonight I did something that I have rarely done in the past three months. Turned on the TV.

I'm am an admitted TV junkie. I usually get involved with a couple of shows a season and watch an hour or so TV a night. But this summer we watched zero TV. I read so much and then of course started doing a lot of reading blogs in the evenings.

So what do I watch? I love TLC and HGTV. Right now, I am watching House Hunters. Love it! When the fall TV shows start, I will watch Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, and the new show - Private Practice. I liked Gilmore Girls and Studio 60, but neither show is on any more.

One of my goals in the new year was to watch less TV and I'd say that's one resolution I've stuck with. It actually feels weird to be sitting here with the TV on. Of course, here I sit while I'm watching it - I'm on the computer!

So what will you watch this fall?

I don't think I'm looking forward to any TV this season. I'll miss Studio 60 and Gilmore Girls, and last year I enjoyed How I met and married your mother and hung out with a funny dude named Barney or whatever it's called. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to commit to tv shows when all the good one get cancelled. Yeah, I'm a tv addict. Its pretty minor as vices go. I keep my clothes on, I don't gamble away the kids college funds, and it is only mildly mood altering.

We like CBS on Monday nights. It's a good way to start the week (and end crappy Mondays). How I Met Your Mother. Two and a 1/2 Men. Christine. I like funny shows, even mildly funny.

I miss Must See TV. Now it's all reality voyeurism.

Ooohhh....Big fan to How I met your mother and Two and a half men. However, I have never committed to them. If I ever catch it, its usually a bonus for me. The only shows that I have been faithful to are House, 24, America's Next Top Model and So you Think you can dance. I also like to catch reruns of Scrubs and Monk. I'm pretty much just a channel surfer.

BONES. I came back cause I just remembered this one - the reason we do leftovers on Wednesdays! Also I love Time Team - which is a British archeaology show. Both of these give me a chance to use my anthro degree.

I watched TV last night too, except that it was really the DVD of Children of Men. Still, it was the first night in awhile that I've detached myself from the computer and vegged on the couch instead. (Anything for marital bonding, right?)

My shows right now are: Lost, House, Survivor, Battlestar Galactica, and Heroes. That's a full roster (one hour per night, Sunday through Thursday), though it's a rare week when all five shows are in season and showing new episodes, so I'm open to adding one or two more.

Bones! My favorite bad show! That and the Ghost Whisperer, which I normally watch through a boozy Friday night haze. But nothing else has me excited this season, alas.

I like: House, Monk, The Closer, Psych and Saving Grace. We were watching John from Cincinati (HBO) but it had it season final on Sunday. Those are hubby & wife shows.
On my own I like Designed to Sell & What Not to Wear.

Hey - we haven't heard from Nikki lately. Is everything ok?

I am a tv addict, I admit it. But I don't get my tv time until the kids are in bed around 8pm. I really enjoy watching New Adventures of Old Christine and Two and a half Men. I have also been watching Big Brother 8...and I enjoy Survivor when it is on.
But my favorite evening show is The Office. My husband got me hooked on this show and it is so funny. I don't think I've seen an episode that hasn't had me at least giggling.
We have a DVR and that allows me to record programs for viewing at a later time (usually Sunday evening). I record Guiding Light during the day so that I can watch it when the kids are not around...after all I am too busy trying to be a good mom to them...

I heard Studio 60 might be back...you never know. It was well-written and witty so you never know. ;)

I will most likely watch Survivor if nothing else because it is set in China this time so something new. I don't watch Grey's Anatomy, but I have heard good things about it.

I tend to watch TLC or even the Food Network or the Game Show Network. We had a serious Match Game addiction for a while.

I will say this, since blogging my TV viewing has decreased a lot. I am not sure it is a better vice, but I sure can type faster.

Because of:

1) Getting upset too many times when an awesome new show was canceled, and
2) Never remembering what days/times things are on, and
3) Being impatient,

I've gotten hooked on renting FINISHED TV series from Netflix. I can watch the whole thing straight through, and I know exactly when it's going to end, and I can watch it whenever I want with no commercials.

This doesn't start this fall, but we're hopeless "24" addicts. We also (sigh) watch American Idol. We love the mystery shows (Mystery Monday) that come on BBC America and we are also hooked on Law & Order (SUV and Criminal intent and the plain old Law & Order). Sheesh--maybe we watch too much TV?

I don't watch tv during the summer either - because all the shows are reruns!

I'll be watching Lost (but that doesn't start until Feb), Grey's, ER, Heros, Brothers & Sisters and I'm not sure what else right now!

Oooh, I forgot some! I love The Office. I got hooked on Brothers & Sisters last year. And I like the Food Network. Good thing I did this post, so I can warm up my tv watching knowledge. I'm hoping we'll get back our DVR this fall. We did away with it last year in an effort to watch less tv, but I think it has my tied to the tv more, since I can't just watch it later. Kids' bedtime routines make watching anything before 8:30 or so pretty unrealistic. We hope to have everyone asleep by 8, but who am I kidding?!?!?!

Let's see...I do the Monday CBS thing, but skip "How I Met Your Mother", we love Dirty Jobs, Mythbusters, House, Lost, Monk, Desperate Housewives, and The Office. I miss Studio 60 like crazy...just like I missed West Wing like crazy for months and months and months when it was gone. Oh and my new favorite (sigh) is Family Jewels on A&E - the Gene Simmons reality show. I never watch reality shows, but that one sucked me in and now I'm hooked. It's crazy to me how such a big time rock & roll guy seems to have raised two really good kids - his son, Nick, is a laugh riot! He needs HIS own show!

I am with you on House Hunters. I also love Design to Sell and I can't think of the name of the show with the mom/daughter who are realtors and they go into homes for sale and tell the owners why it isn't selling. Maybe I'm a realtor at heart?

I also love Sell this House on A&E and the Real Deal on TLC. Count me in for Grey's and Brothers & Sisters. ER and Boston Legal are also musts! Oh geez I forgot Desperate Housewives!

Hi I'm Rhonda and I'm a TV junkie...
